Boral Aggregates Soil-Bentonite Slurry Cutoff Wall

Project Location: Brighton, Colorado

Project Description:

Hall-Irwin was hired as the design-build contractor to build a soil-bentonite cutoff wall (slurry wall). This wall, which was approximately 10,500 LF equated to approximately 305,000 SF of wall. The maximum key depth into bedrock was 5 FT with an average key depth of 4 FT. One challenge with this project was to continue work on the site while the owner was actively mining within close proximity of the cutoff wall construction. Hall-Irwin’s project team took extra precautions so construction would not affect Boral Aggregates’ production and our cutoff wall construction was still progressing efficiently.
