Heit Gravel Pit Soil-Bentonite Cutoff Wall
Project Location: Vollmar, Colorado
With a maximum depth of 46 FT and an average depth of 28 FT deep, the Heit Pit soil-bentonite cutoff wall (also known as a slurry wall) was constructed by Hall-Irwin’s design-build team using a soil-bentonite mixture. At 225,600 SF, this project had a key of 4 FT into bedrock in order to complete the cutoff wall. The Heit Pit project also included the construction of a drainage trench that was 5 FT deep by 5 Ft wide.
