Bluff Lake Improvements
Location
Denver, CO
Bluff Lake was created in 1884 for the purpose of storing water for the local region, and creating a natural preserve for the community to enjoy.
Over the years, its north side dam began to leak, resulting in inconsistent water levels and drainage into Sand Creek. Hall Irwin was hired to build a cutoff wall along the north side of the lake. This slowed leakage and allowed for a more consistent lake experience for visitors. This project was funded by several sources including the State of Colorado, Central Colorado Water Conservation District, and the Gates Family Foundation.
