Poudre Ponds Improvements
Location
Greeley, CO
This slurry wall was the final step in a long-standing contract between the City of Greeley and Hall Irwin. Our crews constructed the cement-reinforced soil-bentonite cutoff wall around Pond A in 2002, after which Greeley hired Hall Irwin to oversee the mining and dewatering of Pond B.
By 2020, Pond B was ready to be lined with its own slurry wall, in addition to several other improvements between the two cells. The new contract included a 240,000 SF (8,460 LF) slurry wall around Pond B with an average depth of 59 feet, in addition to a 36” steel pipe interconnect with a SCADA-controlled slide gate and a rip rap rundown structure on the north end of Pond A to protect the slurry wall from any Poudre River flood events.
