Safety Matters

At the end of the day, every contractor wants to send their workers home unscathed. To this end, Hall Irwin created a Safety Committee to more thoroughly integrate a mentality of care for and commitment to the wellbeing of the people we work with. Together, they embody the intentions of our upper management: to establish a forward-thinking, deep-rooted desire in our staff to protect themselves, our subcontractors, and the communities in which we work.

To facilitate this mentality of care, all of our staff has now been fully trained in the STOP Program, which seeks to encourage safe behavior in positive, non-punitive ways. Additionally, our project management team has been trained in a variety of job specific disciplines including CPR + First Aid, Trenching & Excavation, Fall Protection, Forklift, Confined Spaces, MSHA, and OSHA. Chris conducts weekly site visits to assess working conditions, meeting with subcontractors when necessary to encourage improvements, and stopping work if a given situation is found to be below our standards. Our Superintendents also participate in these efforts by ensuring daily compliance with PPE requirements, conducting Toolbox Talks, and performing regular Job Hazard Analyses. Our management team has also implemented a Lessons Learned process after the completion of each job to discuss how we can work better and safer in the future.

Our founder’s people-oriented mentality fortifies the hiring of qualified, safety-minded personnel who will add to our company ethos. With this mind, during the hiring process, we look for candidates who value safety and who seek to perform their duties with a mind for hazard avoidance. We have held Colorado Cost Containment certification since 2008, documenting that our company has maintained a qualified risk management program. We intend to continually improve our safety program as we seek to prevent hazards from ever happening, and construct in an efficient yet safety-conscious manner.
